MODERN ERA 8. SEARCH FOR LEBENSRAUM
Let us begin with this quote
![]() ![]() The distribution of people, as the map on the left shows, also reveals that they came from elsewhere to seek lebensraum, but in Canaan. For instance, in the Old Testament, the story about the people led by Moses to what is called the "promised land" is no other than the conquest of the Amalekites' territory by his people, the Israelites, under his command. He died during the invasion. His people were driven out, forcing them to return south, then joining Joshua and his people, who did no different when they crossed the Jordan River to seize Canaan. In the history of transition from one rulership to another in the region of Canaan, it was not just about inheritance from kings to their sons or cessation because of disputes and conflicts. Seeking lebensraum in Canaan were also by emperors from Europe and caliphs from what is now the modern-day Middle East. See this chapter and this chapter MODERN TIMES The abstract meaning of history is 'scientific study of the past.' In a broader sense, it is an umbrella term that relates to past events as well as the memory, discovery, collection, organization, presentation, and interpretation of information about these events. However, "umbrella term" is confusing because it is the presentation of a totality as a whole, so encompassing everything that belongs to that totality. But if you want everything that belongs to the totality in an arrangement, laying out the exact order in which everything came to exist, you need to speak in terms of chronology, whereby politics, politicization, and even religionization are irrelevant. "Everything" means here any link belonging to an endless chain. And, every link belongs to one other, is part of one other, and is associated with one other, even when a link is related to a link ahead of it or way back from it. Because that particular link can't exist if it is not 'sprouted' from a previous link that also needs to 'sprout' from another link. That's what a chronology is. Only an untouched chronology of events presents the truth, not the politicization and religionization by snippet practices.
This absurd idea isn't new, as a similar development occurred seven decades earlier, but in the context of the merging of so-called religion and politicized ideas as one. The introduction of Zionism in 1897 by Theodor Herzl in Basel, Switzerland, was also about establishing such a territory, as he proclaimed that Jews have the right to have their own land. At that time, Palestine was part of the Ottoman Empire. On May 15, 1901, the founder of the ideology of Zionism, Herzl went to Sultan Abdul Hamid to ask for autonomy of Palestine. The sultan denied. Herzl then went to the British who had a powerful influence in that region. But they offered Herzl Uganda. Herzl rejected that offer. A year after the partitioning of the Ottoman Empire, the British foreign minister Arthur Balfour approved Herzl's request for the estabilishment of his "home" in Palestine. Balfour wrote in a letter to the then-prime minister Rothschild something that is widely interpreted as "We have a Jewish state." But the letter reads littery: If we focus on the term "national home," the term is not an exact synonym for "country," The first part of the term, 'national', is an adjective that describes something as being related, in this case, to "national identity". However, Judaism is an offshoot as a result of a unification of several tribal beliefs to become a single religion, while Zionism is the merging of that religion and ideological ideas as one. Herzl was not a Jew but a follower of his own ideas. Balfour did not approve the establishment of a "national home," but a Zionist home, which European Zionists in 1947 began to turn into the establisment of a Zionist state, first by waging a war against the British then against the Palestinians utlimately leading to the first genocide and ethnic cleansing, with the Deir Yassin massacre (1949) as the latest example at that time. The German "lebensraum" is a term for a territory which a group, state, or nation believes it is needed for its "survival" (read: expansion). The term is best known in the context of Nazism were it was based upon Johan Rudolf Kjellén's geopolitical interpretation of Friedrich Ratzel's human-geography term. On August 25, 1933, German Ashkenazis reached an agreement with the Nazis, known as the Haavara Agreement. It was finalized after three months of talks by the Zionist Federation of Germany, the Anglo-Palestine Bank (under the directive of the Jewish Agency), and the economic authorities of Nazi Germany. It was a major factor in making the migration of approximately 60,000 German Jews to Palestine possible between 1933 and 1939. The Nazis established "lebensraum" as the racist rationale of their foreign policy by which they began the Second World War. They needed Eastern Europe to fulfill that idea, which was introduced on September 1, 1939, and became operational with Operation Barbarossa in 1941. The first generation of Israelis, those who directly descend from European Ashkenazis, passed on a similar rationale, but based on the ideology of Zionism.

Each link presents or represents an event, a happening, an occurrence. In first instance, they look different from each other as they may be about different issues in different situations like one is about religion while the next one is about war. But, are they really that different?.jpg)
