MODERN ERA

13. CONTROLLING THE NARRATIVE

In general, information is data that has been structured, processed, and given context to become meaningful. It helps answer questions, reveals patterns, enables learning, and supports decision-making, learning, and knowledge. But what is information when it contains data that is not authentic? The answer depends on the situation where such information is used.

In the context of the Question of Palestine, it is about forcibly seeking authority by fabricating or manipulating information structures. But, when forcibly seeking authority includes the use of threats, ruination of someone's private life and or career, or resorting to terror at all,  it is the practice of outright fascism.

Hasbara, which means "explanation," is widely explained as "strategic public diplomacy and communication efforts to shape international perceptions, essentially advocacy and public relations for the state, particularly in the digital age." It involves using media, social media, and cultural diplomacy to present Israel in a favorable light, justify its actions, and counter narratives critical of it, often employing one-sided arguments, emotional appeals, and coordinated messaging through government bodies and pro-Israel organizations. It was formally introduced to the Zionist vocabulary by Nahum Sokolow.

In simple words, it is a strategy that "seeks to explain actions, whether or not they are justified". It is therefore right to consider it not as a strategy, but a reactive and event-driven language.

However, the practice of hasbara is a totally different thing. It is talking about events that never have taken place or are grossly exaggerated. A Zionist, in particular an Israeli Zionist, would never talk about what the Israelis have done to the Palestinians, but rather than talking what they have achieved. The practice is no other than suppressing information when it is not in line with views representing the ideology of Zionism.

The best example is suppressing someone's view when it is against the Israelis, particularly in a discussion. A Zionist would constantly interrupt to prevent you from expressing your views or label them as "antisemitism." They often would say, "I don't care." The right to have your view becomes subordinated to theirs, something that is known in fascism.

When an Israeli euphorically talks about what has been achieved against the Palestinians, whether in Gaza or the West Bank, it amounts to glorification of violence against the people they are oppressing, suppressing, if not uprooting. That also amounts to fascism.

GOOGLE

Based on reports in September 2025, the Israeli war belligerent signed a $45 million (150 million shekel) contract with Google to run digital advertising campaigns designed to shape global public opinion regarding the conflict in Gaza. The deal, finalized in late June 2025, involves Google and YouTube’s ad platforms (specifically Display & Video 360) and aims to push the belligerent's sponsored narratives, described in internal documents as "hasbara" or propaganda. We found on YouTube two versions (English and Italian) of a hasbara fabrication about the resistance surprise attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023.

Another widely viewed output of the campaign was a YouTube video by the Israeli war belligerent's foreign ministry, falsely claiming, “There is food in Gaza. Any other claim is a lie.” The ad was viewed over 6 million times, heavily boosted through paid promotion under the government contract. According to internal Israeli records, the initiative was coordinated through the Israeli Government Advertising Agency (Lapam), a department reporting directly to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.

SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

Twitter was known for its real-time, short-form updates called "tweets," enabling instant global communication, breaking news dissemination, connecting people through trending hashtags, and serving as a platform for direct engagement between individuals, businesses, and public figures, characterized by its simplicity and rapid information flow. The platform's public nature fostered open debates on social issues.

When Elon Musk bought the platform, many users were worried about the freedom of expression, which has become a reality after he paid a visit to Kfar Aza on November 7, 2023, to see the "beheaded babies."

Lots of users have left the platform due to increased toxicity, hate speech, and disinformation, coupled with changes in content moderation and Elon Musk's controversial leadership, leading to a perception of a less credible platform.

Specific drivers include policy shifts, algorithmic changes favoring paying pro-Israeli subscribers, the platform's rebranding, and ethical concerns over issues like the AI chatbot Grok generating inappropriate images, causing users, brands, and even politicians to migrate to alternatives like Threads or Bluesky.

Algorithmic changes were not done unilaterally. Like on Google Search, Meta's Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, these changes were in reaction to Netanyahu's call on social media to tweak their algorithms to censor anti-Israel truth tellers. Netanyahu's action was pushing for a single view in the interest of what the Israelis conflatingly call "security," forcing everyone to rely only on information that is altered in the view of Israeli and American Zionists.

WIKIPEDIA

CAMERA is the abbreviation for the full name "Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis." It portrays itself as a media-monitoring, research, and membership organization devoted to promoting accurate and balanced coverage of Israel and the Middle East. However, it is a Zionist entity founded in 1982, and based in both the United States and colonized historic Palestine. In 2010, the Israeli orthodox Zionist outlet Arutz Sheva revealed the real activity of this entity, financed by Israeli colonist Naftali Bennet.

In November 2025, Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales intervened to lock editing on the Wikipedia article titled "Gaza genocide," arguing that it failed to meet the platform’s Neutral Point of View (NPOV) standards and exhibited significant bias against the Israeli war belligerent. He argued that presenting the Gaza war as a "genocide" in Wikipedia's own voice was a violation of policy, noting that the claim is "highly contested" and requires proper attribution to sources rather than stating it as a fact.

In a report from September 2025, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, urged the Israeli war belligerent and all countries to fulfil their obligations under international law “to end the genocide” and punish those responsible.

Wales' action was purely driven by his stance as a supporter of the Israelis and the ideology of Zionism.

CONTROLLING THE NARRATIVE IN THE US

Subordinating, if not denying the right to whom one wishes to stand for had emerged the strongest during the student protests in 2024 at Harvard and Columbia Universities in the United States, which targeted hundreds of students being expelled from continuing their studies or their graduation had been cancelled, over protests against the Israeli genocidal war in Gaza. Israeli infiltration by means of hasbara in American campuses isn't new since 2024, but has persisted at least since March 2002,  as this handbook reveals:

There are hundreds of Zionist and pro-Zionist entities in the United States since an American in 1898 returned from Basel, Switzerland, where he attended the introduction of the ideology, which was organized by its founder, Theodor Herzl. Several of these entities hold significant sway over public opinion, media discourse, and political policy regarding Israel. These organizations range from large grassroots lobbying groups to media watchdogs and think tanks that actively shape the narrative to manipulate public opinion. We look at the most influencial entities.

  • CUFI "(Christians United for Israel)" is the largest pro-Zionism organization in the United States, with a claimed membership of over 10 million (mostly Evangelical Christians), CUFI is highly influential in mobilizing grassroots support for the Israeli war belligerent. It organizes evangelical churches to pressure the U.S. government to support unwavering right-wing, policies toward the Israelis. CUFI was founded in 2006 by Pastor John Hagee, officially incorporating in February of that year.'

  • AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) founded in 1954, is the successor of the American Zionist Committee for Public Affairs (AZCPA) founded by Isaiah L.Kenen, an Israeli agent who was initially sent to the US to defend the Deir Yassin massacre committed in 1949 by the first generation of Israelis. AIPAC is currently known to us for its large scale bribery of American politicians to have their agendas aligned with Israeli views. The Zionist entity is also known to us for resorting to influence the presidential election campaigns, making the US a pseudo-democracy, as no one would reach the final phase of the presidential elctions if they do not support the Israeli political war belligerent.

  • COP, (Conference of Presidents) of Major American Jewish Organizations is the primary body representing diverse national Zionist organizations, serving as a forum for consensus-building, policy setting, and collective action on national and international issues affecting the American Zionist community and the Israelis.

  • ADL portrays itself as fighting antisemitism and, as part of its mandate, heavily influences public opinion regarding Zionism and the Israelis. However, its so-called 'fighting antisemitism' has been found as no other than witch hunting those with opposing views to ruin their private lives and career. The practice amounts to fascism. ADL is also known to us as importer of Israeli occupation control tactics by funding American police officers to receive covert Israeli training.

  • SWU (Stand With Us) was founded in 2001 by Californian Zionists, Roz Rothstein, Jerry Rothstein, and Esther Renzer in Los Angeles, catalyzed by two Israeli teenagers Koby Mandell and Yosef Ishran who were found dead in the West Bank. SWU claims to counter misinformation about the Israelis and combats antisemitism through "education."

    • The Second Intifada broke out on September 28, 2000. In the first five days of the Intifada, 47 Palestinians were killed and another 1,885 were wounded. Amnesty International found the majority of Palestinian casualties were civilian bystanders, and 80 percent of those killed in the first month posed no life-threatening danger to Israeli occupation forces. Five Israelis were killed by Palestinians during the same period.

    • 2001 was the second year of the Second Intifada (2000-2005). The bodies were found dead on May 8, 2001

    • The entity claims that 'Palestinian terrorists' and Hamas were behind the death, while there is even in 2026 no evidence found.

    • The Second Intifada was caused by the collapse of the Oslo peace process at the Camp David Summit by the then-Israeli leadership, and immediate triggers like Ariel Sharon's controversial visit to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, fueling Palestinian anger over stalled statehood hopes, colony expansion, and the Israeli refusal to achieve meaningful progress in peace negotiations, leading to widespread unrest met with Israeli armed belligerent, and escalating into cycles of Palestinian resistance and Israeli retaliations.

    • SWU already provides misinformation by withholding the date when the bodies were found, and the context in which the death of the two teenagers is supposed to be viewed.

  • ZOA (Zionist Organization of America) represents a more right-leaning, unapologetic, and staunchly Zionist stance, and focuses heavily on lobbying and public education, particularly in fighting the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
