MODERN ERA

CONTROLLING THE NARRATIVE

14. GOING TIKTOKING

Let us recap a paragraph from chapter 13.

"Specific drivers include policy shifts, algorithmic changes favoring paying pro-Israeli subscribers, the platform's rebranding, and ethical concerns over issues like the AI chatbot Grok generating inappropriate images, causing users, brands, and even politicians to migrate to alternatives like Threads or Bluesky.

Algorithmic changes were not done unilaterally. Like on Google Search, Meta's Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, these changes were in reaction to Netanyahu's call on social media to tweak their algorithms to censor anti-Israel truth tellers. Netanyahu's action was pushing for a single view in the interest of what the Israelis conflatingly call "security," forcing everyone to rely only on information that is altered in the view of Israeli and American Zionists."

One platform became a target by the Israelis. However, TikTok, which is the issue here, was initially targeted for another reason:

The United States has long suspected that ByteDance, the Beijing-based parent company of TikTok, has ties to the Chinese government, raising national security concerns. These suspicions have led to, and were reinforced by, a 2024 law requiring ByteDance to divest its U.S. operations or face a nationwide ban, a law that was upheld by the Supreme Court in early 2025.

However, on March 26, 2023, cyber experts were saying that there is no evidence available that suggests TikTok has shared U.S. user data or altered content for U.S. users at the behest of the Chinese government. This may have prompted the Zionist outlet JNS (Jewish News Syndicate) on April 3, 2023, to fabricate its version by "reporting," that "TikTok poses potential security risks for Israel, explain experts."

In August 2023, Elon Musk introduced a verification system for its paid X Blue subscribers requiring a selfie and government ID, handled by the Israeli company AU10TIX, leading to significant user privacy and security concerns due to the company's ties to Israeli intelligence and past data breaches. Users must consent to X storing this biometric data for up to 30 days for fraud prevention, but activists and experts worry about misuse and data security, while we puts the question "Who controls that users' biometric data really has been removed after a month?" Because the Israelis have a notorious reputation in sticking to their obligations and are in no way credible and to trust

Musk claims that the implementation is to "combat impersonation and fraud, adding a layer of security to the subscription service." But, why did he explicit chose an firm belonging to the entity that is a war belligerent since 1967? The Americans are stampeding over TikTok's alleged ties with the Chinese regime, while Musk's ties with the Israelis is a direct threat to Palestinian X-users and a threat in the Westen world to the right to choose to whom one wishes to stand for.

On June 6, 2024, Haaretz reported that 'TikTok is a strategic threat to national security': a discussion at the Knesset exposed the Israeli belligerent's failure to address the growing problem of manipulation by the social platform used by 3.8 million Israeli colonists – including the National Security minister." We found the report distractive, as members of the Israeli political war belligerent, particularly those associated with Netanyahu’s right-wing administration, engaged with JNS.

In September 2025, so the same month that he was scheduled to meet the JNS, Netanyahu picked up the issue again. He painted TikTok as a significant national security threat, primarily viewing the platform as a weapon of influence that shapes global opinion against "Israel."

Netanyahu was referring to the growing international isolation to efforts of using TikTok and other social platforms to spread "anti-Israel sentiment, promote propaganda, and manipulate public opinion." He accused China and Qatar and told influencers that modern battles are fought on social media, labeling TikTok the "number one" weapon in this domain.

But, the Israeli army unit COGAT, already responsible for the dystopian warfare in Gaza, is using TikTok influencers at least since August 2025 (see video) to mislead public opinion about starvation in Gaza. The Israelis were already in a field they have started to turn into a battlefield, while pro-fact seekers are using the platfrom because they were either shadow banned or suspended on platfoms like X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook.
